John began his legal career as a prosecutor with the Office of the State Attorney for Miami-Dade County where he served in the Circuit Court Gang Unit, Career Criminal Robbery Unit, Felony Division, Juvenile Division and the County Court Misdemeanor Division. He also participated in Circuit Court appeals. In 2006, John became cross designation as a Special Assistant United States Attorney, working with the office of the United States Attorney for the Southern District of Florida.

In 2007, John worked as a civil litigation associate with the law firm of Lydecker, Diaz. In 2008, he opened his own firm, the Law Offices of John Priovolos, P.A., where he concentrates his practice on criminal defense matters, including white collar crimes, DUI/traffic infractions, drug offenses, violent crimes and domestic violence.
